All-day excursion: 9 hours | If you are considering participating in the Grossglockner Hike, or if you want to try out one of the legs, then join the pass trip.
Here, you will experience extremely varied natural settings – from green areas to glacier landscapes – as we hike from one valley to another. At the same time, we will cover about 750 vertical metres upwards and 1,000 vertical metres downwards, and we will generally avoid other tourists.
We will start at the dams and walk along a lake towards the core of the national park, Hohe Tauern. While we admire the mighty waterfalls and the hanging glaciers, we will move through the hairpin turn towards the pass, at an altitude of 2,600 metres. From here, we can enjoy the view of some of the tallest mountains in Austria and the perpetual snow. The perfect place to enjoy our lunch.
The first hour after our lunch break will be spent hiking along a glacier, after which the natural surroundings will become greener and we will start to see flowers again.
The lush valley will lead us towards Grünsee lake. If you are wondering about the colour of the lake, it is due to minerals from the mountains.
